Whilst everyone else is complaining about the darker mornings, early sunsets and unpredictable British winter weather, I'm silently smug about the changing seasons. It's my birthday later this week, so I really am an autumn baby through and through! I love the ritual of changing wardrobes when it gets cold, or in the case of this post, changing make-up bags. Gone is the bronzer and coral lipsticks that dominate summer; in come the smokey eyes, vamp lips and foundations that are just that little bit lighter to match untanned skin (unless you're me, and you never tan so it's one shade all year round). In honour of this transition, I'm sharing some of the beauty products I'm loving this Autumn!
1/Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation It's official. Charlotte Tilbury is cult. In other words, CT is now available on Cult Beauty. Long gone are the days of trudging up to Selfridges for this coveted collection of products, now it can all be bought at the press of a button on one of my guilty pleasure websites. I've only heard good things about this foundation, and now that summer is over I don't need the super high SPF of my usual Kiehl's BB cream it's the perfect time to try something with a thicker coverage. I'm telling you, It's cult for a reason!
2/Barry M Matte nail varnish in Crush You can't beat a good berry coloured nail varnish in autumn (and a good vamp lipstick to match). I personally have never found that the more expensive nail varnish brands like Essie are much better than good old bought-from-Boots Barry M, and this dark plum matte varnish is an autumn staple for me!
3/Lulu Guinness Vaseline If it's Lulu Guinness, it's a yes from me. When I spotted this little pot on the shelf out of the corner of my eye, I didn't even have time to check the flavour before I rushed to the till and bought it, only to realise that it's just their Original flavour. But I don't even care. Vaseline is great for preventing wintery chapped lips, and this Limited Edition Lulu pot is too cute to miss.
4/Jouer Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Papaye The aforementioned Cult Beauty clearly has a very sophisticated CRM strategy (can you tell I work in Digital Marketing?), because after spotting this lipstick in an email they sent to me it was in my shopping basket within 7 seconds. When applied, the colour of this liquid lipstick is quite a lot more gold than expected, but I actually love the pinky-sheen it has so that in some lights it looks more peach than gold. With celebration after celebration coming up over the next few weeks, I can tell this is going to become a winter staple!
5/Smashbox Photo Finish Primer This was a recommendation from a bride-to-be in my office, who, following her trial run wedding make up session, sent round a list of the best products for us all to go buy recommended by her make up artist - and, obviously, this was on it. For best results, just squeeze a small amount onto the hand and rub into the face with your fingertips (an application method I have never liked using until now) and it creates the smoothest canvas for your foundation. F L A W L E S S.
6/Tom Ford Noir perfume I've been faithful to Coco Mademoiselle for years now, but as my latest bottle got closer and closer to it's final spritz, I fancied a change. And Tom Ford's Noir is just that: it's smoky, and dare I say it, quite a sensual scent, and it's one that I find actually smells better the longer you wear it for. Move over Coco.
Do you wear different make up products in summer to autumn? What are you loving right now?
