You can only imagine how packed Mildred's was on the first day of London Fashion Week, given that it's a vegetarian restaurant in the heart of Soho and so a haven for all of the health-conscious fashionistas and bloggers. Well although I claim to be a #blogger myself, this was my first visit to Mildred's, and even as - dare I say it - a carnivore, I suspect it won't be my last! I won't pretend that I chose this restaurant, being a dedicated meat-eater, but when you have friends that make the silly decision to be vegan you have to make these sorts of compromises!
Humble and homely is how I would describe this hideout, and it does have a menu extensive enough to cater to all dietary requirements and preferences - even for those difficult vegans. Being meat eaters, myself and Elsa opted for the vegetable stir fry as it included tofu, so we weren't completely eating rabbit food. That being said, Bryony's vegan gyoza looked just as tempting! The best thing about dessert is that it's always going to be a vegetarian option (unless you're eating Rachel Green's thanksgiving trifle) so there was plenty of choice. I had the most indulgent sticky toffee pudding which was literally a slab of stickiness and sweet, sweet calories. Bryony had the vegan brownie that she had been so excited to try, and loved every bit of it!
If you also have picky friends who can't just be normal and eat everything (no offence) then Mildred's is a great compromise for veggies and meaties! It's a comfy and cosy atmosphere with a great menu, and isn't too harsh on the purse either. Bon appetite!
