As soon as I got home from Glastonbury I was hit with the depressing thought of not having another holiday booked for this summer. Well, actually, this year. Uncertainty with my internship dates and also a lack of disposable money has meant that I have no beach retreats or european city breaks to look forward to... yet. So, I was probably disproportionately excited to be escaping to Norfolk last weekend, but to be perfectly honest a girly weekend with 3 of my closest friends was probably just what I needed to fix my holiday-woes, and below I have explained 3 reasons as to why.

1. England is a beautiful place. Okay, some bits aren't so cute, but Norfolk definitely is! I had never been before, never even been tempted, but after this weekend I will definitely be returning. If you're looking for an country retreat, Burnham Market is bursting with adorable local shops, sandy beaches, beach huts on beach huts on beach huts, and a sea breeze that knocks the stress out of you. Instagram gold.
2. A weekend away does wonders. This might sound obvious, but actually I was feeling so upset about not having a week or more away to look forward to, and 2 days away from London was all I needed. Leave on Friday night and come home on Sunday, and spend a wonderfully care-free 48 hours in between. If you have an empty weekend in your diary coming up, definitely look into a cheap British weekend away to refresh and recharge.
3. Company is everything. I lived with these angels (also known as Graihagh, Elsa, and Lauren) during university and they have been unshakeable - literally, I can't get rid of them - from my life ever since. But now that we're all #YoPros it's unbelievably hard to pin us all down, even though we all now live in London. But this weekend has reminded me how important good company and regular catch-ups with old friends are for one's state of mind, and I know this is something that is going to get even more difficult as university becomes more and more a thing the past.
So after a weekend of sea air, giggles (lots of giggles), and wine (lots of wine), I'm feeling much more positive about being Britain-bound for the foreseeable future. I will be running around the country to sample more of its hidden treasures to satisfy my wanderlust. Having said this I probably will still escape to a hotter country as soon as I get the chance... Girl's gotta tan.
