Having acne prone skin is in almost all cases a curse, but it's a blessing when it comes to forcing me to maintain a daily skin routine. My friends who can wipe their faces at night with a Boots Essentials make up wipe and still not have a single spot used to be my enemies, but now everyone is investing in the products that I have been using since I was 11 years old because of that one thing that unites us all no matter what skin type we have: ageing. I thought I would share my own skincare routine with you, because I have found a lot of guidance and inspiration from other blog posts that have done the same.
1/Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish This has been a fixture in my routine for over 2 years now, and it's famous enough that I don't have to say much about it (I mean, it has a trademark). What I will say is that if you're lazy like me and want one product to remove make up whilst cleansing, this is it. The creamy formula melts away anything on your skin that shouldn't be there, and the muslin cloth exfoliates as it removes it all.
2/L'Oreal Pue Clay Purity Mask I really only bought this mask for one reason: it's lovely colour. (Can you see a bit of a pattern in the products I use?) I really was a sucker for the marketing of this mask because I saw the deal and the colour of this mask and was sold, but actually I don't regret it! I wouldn't say it's much different to other clay masks I've used, but it leaves my skin feeling smooth and "breathy" nonetheless.
3/Pixi Glow Tonic I've seen this toner floating about Instagram and blogs for a while now, and after reading a few raving reviews about how good it is for scarred and acne prone skin I was convinced - well here's one more! After applying the tiniest bit of this toner with a cotton pad, my skin is left feeling tingly and fresh, but I can actually feel it working most the next morning when I wake up and my skin still feels like its been freshly cleaned after a long night of rubbing my face into the pillow. I will definitely be trying more Pixi products in the future!
4/Clinique Clinical Clearing Gel This is a product that saves lives. Srsly. This is the ultimate spot treatment for drying out existing spots, and I am convinced it prevents them from growing when you can see that red mark slowly appearing... You can either place a small amount on particular blemishes, or wipe it over larger areas when they're feeling in need of a deep clean.
5/Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream Finally onto the moisturiser that seals all of the goodness from the other products in for the day! This Kiehl's cream isn't the lightest moisturiser when it's in the pot, but as soon as you apply it it becomes incredibly spreadable and really does soak into the skin very easily. I used to get dry patches on my nose and forehead, but not since using this moisturiser (even in winter)! I use the Kiehl's BB Cream for my base on a day to day basis, and the two products work perfectly together to keep my face even and moisturised.
Do you use any of these products? I'm always looking for more tips and recommendations!
